Presenting Doris O'conner and Panther Magic

Panther Magic - Coming June 4th from Evernight Publishing

Thanks so much for having me on your blog today with my new release, Panther Magic. This isbook five in my Projects series, and my Muse kind of jumped this one on me, as if by magic.
See, what I did there. ;-)
Okay, okay, I can hear you groan at that lame joke from here, but I really had no intention of writing this story. Number five in this series was supposed to be Natasha’s and Stephan’s story, but I never got past the start. Something was missing, and being a panster and thus entirely reliant on my characters, I shoved that start into my WIP folder, and got on with writing other things, until my search for a Mancandy birthday pic for a friend lead me to these two hunks. My friend was delighted with the pic, and some light hearted banter occurred. Was she going to save one or two…. Separately or at the same time…

Her husband chirped up saying it sounded like one of my books, and just like that Zeb and Aran Harris jumped into my head, and wouldn’t leave me alone until I told their story. Never mind, the fact that I was knee deep in another shifter story. So, being the dutiful panster that I am, I sat down, opened up a brand new word document and my fingers flew. It also became apparent why I had stalled on Natasha’s story. You see Natasha is Kate’s roommate and the events in Panther Magic coincide with the start of Natasha’s story. Simply put Panther Magic had to be written before The Polar Project, which will now be book six in this series.
Watch this space as they say!
For now, however, let me introduce you to Kate Duerden and her men….or rather domly shifter types as they’re also known.

Prepare to laugh, cry, and get somewhat hot and bothered, because when these three get together, they ignite the pages.

There’s no such thing as magic…
Kate doesn’t believe in it, let alone the panther sort Arran and Zeb Harris are famous for. Using animals in their act is just downright cruel. If only she could convince her libido of that. Instead she seems to have fallen head over heels in lust with those sex-on-legs twin brothers. Getting laid will cure this, surely?
When panther shifters Arran and Zeb scent their mate, they know they’ll have a fight on their hands. The delectable human morsel might be submissive, but Kate has spirit, never mind the small matter she has no idea shifters exist. They want her submission freely given and not forced upon her by the mysterious mating bond. However, when their panthers kill while rescuing Kate, that bond might well be the only thing to keep them alive.

It’s up to Kate to save her Sirs.

I had such a great time in this city. I loved the architecture, the sea, the people, the shopping, and the singing fountain. The food was wonderful, in short, I had a fantastic trip.

Here I am, in front of the man-made lake where the singing fountains are played at night.

Fairies in the wood

It's bluebell season in France. The woods are full of sky.
My daughter dressed up in a thrift shop ballgown and posed with her horse, Kalin for some pictures. I added some wings and shifted the color a bit and voila! Fairies in the spring forest!

I's Alive!

Jack the Stripper is out - let's make him a star!

Here's a little excerpt:

As he walked down the street with Mama Hoya, Jack couldn’t help thinking about Brianna. He’d remembered her, but nothing specific, like, had they made love? She’d invited him to stay at her apartment, but maybe she was counting on him sleeping in the guest room. He could recall her apartment, but for some reason, only the living room. Had he even been in her bedroom?
By the time they got to the bus station, several ways of casually asking her if they’d slept together had crossed his mind. “Did the earth move for you when we made love?” No, that sucked. How about, “Do you feel the same about me as when we first made love?” Even worse. The only way to ask was straight out: “Did we ever make love?” and it would be embarrassing to both of them no matter how he phrased it.
When they got their tickets and climbed on board the uptown bus he’d decided that the less he said, the better off he’d be. He’d let Brianna take the initiative. Another, more sobering thought crossed his mind. If he really was dead, would Brianna ever want to sleep with him? Would anyone? Would it be …What was that word described to making love to dead people? Necro-something-other? Necro-romance?
His stomach lurched at the thought. No. It wouldn’t be the same at all. He might be technically dead— but he felt alive. All right. He didn’t have a heartbeat. But his skin was warm. According to the journal, his body burned food as fuel. Most everything functioned as it used to. But with a strong spell, not with … his thoughts were interrupted by Mamie Hoya’s words. She leaned forward and took his hands in hers.
What you got to know, child, is that the man who made you is your master. You will feel an irresistible urge to obey him. But you have to fight it. If you don’t, you’ll become his slave. My guess is he was waiting for you to be born so he could intercept you at the graveyard. Something must have gone wrong, and you were left on your own. He’ll be looking for you. It’s lucky you came to see me. I can help you resist him.”
Is all this in the journal?” Jack asked.
Oh no. That book was written by a zombie still very much under the control of his master. They don’t want their slaves to be free. He’ll be tearing his hair out right now, mark my words, Jack. When you see him, he’ll try his best to bend you to his will. And you’ll see—you’ll feel as if you won’t be able to withstand him. But you have to stand up to him. The fight won’t last long. Once a zombie defies his master, he’s free. Remember that. You must not let your spirit be cowed.”

When I lived in Saint Thomas, one of the most magical things I experienced was the phosphorescent plankton that would appear in the secluded bay where we lived. On nights when the waves would crest with pale green light, we would go to the beach and swim surrounded by beads of green-blue light.
It happened on the hottest nights of the year, and when the sea was calm. The plankton gives off light when it's agitated, so it glows just at the edge of the ocean where the waves wash onto the beach. Walk along the wet sand, and your footprints glow. When you swim, the plankton lights up all around you. You can smear the plankton on your body, and leave luminescent tribal tattoos. Once, on a boat at night, the plankton lit up in the boats wake. We leaned over the railing, the starry sky above, the dark water below, and it seemed we were floating along the milky way.
Of course, that's when my glasses dropped off into the ocean, and we couldn't afford to buy new ones. I didn't get another pair of glasses until I'd lived in Paris for a year.

Evernight Author Donina Lynne

I'm going to have a bit of fun, and feature some of the Evernight authors here on this blog. I hope you enjoy their excerpts, posts, recipes and slices of an author's life!

First up, is Donina Lynn!

Thank you having me here today! I’m so excited to be sharing my new release Lose Control with you!
Myles and Cassie’s story isn’t about wine and romance. Their journey is about finding love with someone who you not only click with personally, but physically as well.
Let’s be honest, when it comes to sex we all have our likes and dislikes, right? We have our preferences and what we’re willing to do. On the flipside, we also have that list in our heads of deal breakers that when mentioned make you want to run in the other direction because there’s NO WAY you’re giving that a try. Kink-meter has been officially been pegged, thank you very much.

Lose control is about finding that person you’re compatible and comfortable with. The one who has the same wants and desires, and is perfect for you both in and out of the bedroom. It’s about falling for someone who can love every part of who you are … even if some of those parts can be a bit naughty. ;-)

Myles Oliver Dayton likes control in every aspect of his life. He desires it, demands it in the board room and his bedroom. But when his teenage crush walks into his office to be his temporary assistant, the tight restraint he kept on his emotions starts to come undone. Something he couldn’t allow. His idea of love is demanding and possessive, and in the end there would only be pain—for both of them.
Cassie Sorrelson grabs onto opportunities when they come along and assisting Myles with all his demands is an opportunity she isn’t about to pass up. Sexy and controlling, he has her breathing hard and soon yearning for more than a few days together at the corporate retreat. When he suddenly pulls back, though, and refuses the desire she knows is running hot within him, Cassie is going to have to work at getting what she wants … making Myles lose control.
Excerpt from LOSE CONTROL by Donina Lynn:
What the hell are you thinking?”
The door barely clicked shut before Cassie let loose on Myles. By the time she’d walked down the steps and made it to the furthest room of the lower level—where hopefully neither Blake nor his lawyer could hear what most assuredly was going to be shouting—she’d mentally worked herself up to the boiling point. She was beyond pissed, and he was damn well going to know it, too.
For a man who likes to proclaim he needs to be in control of everything, you sure as hell don’t show it.” Cassie couldn’t stand still. Her nerves and temper were prompting her to pace back and forth as she flung her hands around in the air, emphasizing her rant. “Did you happen to notice his lawyer? I could see the dollar signs light up in his eyes when you lost it up there. He was just waiting for you to make a move. Ever hear of a lawsuit? You were about an inch away from getting one slapped on your ass. And over what? Because you thought my honor needed protecting? I neither want nor need any protection or help from you.”
Cassie stopped, planted her hands on her hips, and tapped out her annoyance with her foot while she stared at him. Waiting. For anything. Any type of reaction…at all. Of course, there was nothing from him other than the stoic, stern look on his face. The man was insufferable and she’d probably have better luck trying to beat an answer out of a rock.
For Christ’s sake, Myles, say something.”
He will treat you with respect. No one talks to what’s mine like that.”
Mine?” Cassie shouted at him. “Now all of a sudden I’m yours? A few hours ago, you made it clear you didn’t want me and now I’m yours? I’m nobody’s but my own person. Let me make myself clear so there will be no misunderstandings between us. I can speak for myself, fight my own battles, and handle someone like Blake. And who says I don’t want to go with him? If I want to fuck him, the lawyer, or every man in the whole state of Colorado, I damn well will. You gave up the right to have your opinion heard the minute you pushed me away.”
Tears stung the back of her eyes, and Cassie headed for the door before all the anger, frustration, and hurt threatening to pour out ran down her cheeks like a river. Grasping the handle, she threw over her shoulder, “You have no say in what I do or don’t do.”
The hell I don’t.”

About Donina:
Donina Lynn lives in a small rural Pennsylvania town with her daughter and German Shepherd. Coincidentally, it's the same town where she grew up. There was a time, however, when she ventured away from her home and moved around a bit, crossed a few state lines, and got a degree or two. But, eventually she found her way back to where it all began.
When she's not at her day job, hanging with her family, curled up with her Kindle, or typing away at the computer, you can find her infront of the TV watching anything paranormal, sci-fi, or a good action flick. Respect and admiration go to any show or movie that can incorporate explosions, big guns, some ass-kicking, and gratuitous butt shots.
Her addiction to romance novels started as soon as she could turn a page and has carried with her until she decided it was time to fulfill a promise she made to herself and give writing one a whirl. Her goal is to create stories and characters that the reader can relate to, laugh with and have them routing for that happily-ever-after. If there happens to be a few steamy scenes, well...that's just an added bonus.

"...The story is really enjoyable as Ms Winston deliciously brings on the zany dark humor in a manner that really appeals to the fan of the macabre in me. The humor is not too overpowering or too farcical - just enough to keep me laughing. There is already a beautiful kind of poetry in the premise, what with a hero who lacks a heart, but is in love, and who is supposed to be dead but ends up a hero instead. The story doesn't disappoint in delivering a fun Tim Burton kind of romantic adventure where I am concerned."
~ Mrs Giggles eBook review
